Hours: Full Time (Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM)
Term: 1-Year Contract
Direct Report: Operations Manager
Rate of Pay: $27/hr
Location: 1-617 Windmill Road, 2nd Floor, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia (Local 849 office)

Based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, I.A.T.S.E. (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving Picture Technicians) Local 849 is hiring for the new Membership Coordinator position. This exciting and dynamic role relates to the film and television production industry and the trade union movement.
As the successful candidate, you will be part of a small team working in a collaborative environment to help serve over 600 members who work in behind-the-scenes technical occupations in the film and television industry in all three Maritime provinces.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide general reception support, including greeting guests, answering phones, directing messages and talking with the public
- Communicate dues payment reminders to members via email, phone call or text
- Administer all aspects of the membership process, including but not limited to receiving applications, reinstatements, expulsions, withdrawals, retirements, transfers and new member ballots
- Process all referral and sister applications and assist in the development of a new permittee program
- Assist in the administration of the Trainee Program
- Provide appropriate forms to individuals as required, and receive and process fees and paperwork on an ongoing basis
- Maintain up-to-date records as they pertain to licenses, special documents, resume information, availability and other information as needed
- Assist in reviewing production-related information
- Provide some administrative support with regard to training activities
- Undertake any other duties and special projects as directed
Essential Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exemplary time management and logistical skills
- The ability to communicate effectively with members, other industry professionals, and the general public
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively on solo projects as well as team pursuits
- Strong aptitude for organization, accuracy and attention to detail
- Production industry or related entertainment industry experience required
- Experience working with spreadsheets and formatting documents
Valuable Qualifications
- Written and spoken fluency in French
- Completion of a related community college program, university degree or equivalent experience
- Able to problem-solve in an innovative and creative manner
- Thorough working knowledge of Google platforms, including Gmail, Google Forms, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides
Schedule and Compensation
- The position of Membership Coordinator is a 1-year full-time position with the potential for extension.
- The schedule follows a standard work week; however, due to the nature of the industry, flexible work hours may sometimes be necessary based on the needs of the organization and availability of the successful candidate.
- The position is paid hourly with an overtime structure in place if needed. The remuneration package includes health benefits, life insurance, matching RRSP contributions, vacation time, personal/sick leave, and other entitlements starting after a probationary period.
- The position will commence as soon as possible based on the successful applicant’s schedule.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are highly recommended for this position.
