Training Reimbursement for Members
Each member has access to a $500 annual training budget, which is distributed through reimbursement of eligible training. Receipts for training must be dated after your initiation date to Local 849 and should be submitted within 6 months of completion, but will not be accepted outside of the calendar year the course was taken.
Training Reimbursement Policy
Effective March 5, 2021, and retroactively applied to any training taken from January 1st, 2021 onward.
The Executive Board in conjunction with the Finance & Budget Committee will set an annual training budget. The Executive Board in consultation with the Health, Safety & Training Committee will maintain a list of pre-approved courses to be kept on file in the union office. This list will be reviewed and amended as necessary on an ongoing basis, and a minimum of once per year.
All Members, upon submitting a receipt and a certificate of completion, are entitled to receive 100% reimbursement for approved training/certification up to a maximum of $500 per year.
Should a Member wish to take a course that does not appear on the list of pre-approved courses, or to exceed their $500 annual allotment, they may appeal, in writing, to the Executive Board to do so. All such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
