IATSE Local 849 continues to monitor developments as the spread of the COVID-19 virus impacts all of us in the screen industries in the Maritime provinces. At this time the union office will remain operational but due to health and safety concerns for our staff, the doors will be closed to the public. Please use email or phone to contact staff as needed.

The union is committed to working proactively with employers and industry partners to mitigate any potential health risks and to minimize the impact on the screen industry here in the Maritimes. We are confident that our union employers and partners are following the appropriate public health advice and protocols, and we as a Local are taking all necessary precautions to protect the well being of our members and staff. Further to that, we will be postponing all in-person workshops and meetings effective immediately.

We have included some links to various public health organizations below so you can stay updated on the most recent and accurate information available to the public. We urge you all to continue to follow the directives and protocols as set out by public health officials in your area.

We understand that this is a very difficult, stressful and confusing time for everyone. The most important thing right now is for all of us to remain calm, to stay safe, to take care of our families and our community, and to show empathy and compassion for those around us.
