In June, 2023, the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, known as the SAF-AFTRA, received strike authorization from their membership as part of their ongoing contract negotiations with companies represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP - this group of companies includes such media giants as Paramount, Sony, Disney, CBS, FOX, NBC, Netflix, Apple TV+ and Amazon). As of July 14, an agreement had not been reached and the strike began.
This strike will not affect strictly Canadian productions, however, US productions in Canada that rely on SAG-AFTRA actors could potentially be affected. This may mean a pause on productions already in motion or a delayed start date for such productions.
